The Royal Diaries

The Royal Diaries

I spoke a bit about Jahanara, the mughal princess, in my post on my blog today but I also wanted to share some of the literature I’ve read about her. I was recently reading Shadow Princess by Indu Sundaresan. Indu has also done a short youtube video about Jahanara and the book.

Jahanara was the daughter of Emperor Shah Jahan, who built the Taj Mahal for his loving wife Mumtaz Mahal. Jahanara’s mother (Mumtaz Mahal) died when she was only 17. After her mother’s death, Jahanara took over power and became the First Lady of the Empire. She also comforted and mourned with her father until the day he died. They had a very close relationship.

I really enjoyed reading more about her in the Shadow Princess, however there is another book that I also enjoyed about her. It is in the Royal Diaries series called, Princess Jahanara. Although the Royal Diaries are considered children’s literature, I actually thoroughly enjoyed them and found them quite informative. It is historical fiction that focuses on women of royalty from all over the world. There are twenty books in the series of which I believe I’ve read about eight, still looking to get my hands on and make time for the others.

Anyhow, that was my little history lesson for today, lol. For style details and more of a view of the jewels I’m wearing, you can click over to my blog.

  1. Just call me Van from Philly. No not as in “-adelphia” (and definitely not as in cheese steak, uggh) but as in Philly-stine from Canaan. Which is to say that I read through your entire history and culture post thinking… what else… about the amazing mesh jewels!!! 😛

Incredible jewelry; incredible photography; almost architectural in sensibility.

As I was reading the details over at your place I noticed the SL Marketplace Photography Gift Cards for your work. You should totally do a post here and pimp your gift cards! I mean, after all, as someone who just made her 24th post on iRez:

    that’d be a pretty fitting 25th post!

Thanks for all the beautiful work Berry, and even more, thank you for spending a little of your time with us in the virtual salon here at iRez.

    xoxo

  2. oh, PS, on Tags: you don’t actually need to do “slider” anymore, since that thing is gone now. (haha, of course you’d be all set up if Van ever changes the theme AGAIN! 😛 But I’m pretty happy with this look — are you?? — I think it’s pretty clean and dynamic and organizes our content well. And it seems pretty legible once Becky made me fix the grey type thing.

But you could add a few other tags like “Second Life” or any of the works or peeps you mention. That lets you click on a tag and pull up all the iRez content with that tag, and it also helps with search rankings a bit. I try to do 1 Category, Today in Pictures, in your case, and then 5 – 10 or so Tags.
