I met Laurel in October 2009 at Silene Christen’s “Artist’s Duel Camp” at the Burning Man regional event in Second Life. Since then I’ve been in one of her videos and she’s joined in many VB/CO performances. She’s been making a lot of videos, using capture software that limits her to 30-second clips, which she really likes because it forces her to keep things moving. This isn’t the first coffee shop she’s opened, she says you don’t really need a house in a virtual world, and she’d much rather have a coffee shop.

As a virtual public artist my work invites avatar communities to express their identity, explore their culture, and demand their civil rights.
