Diary #6

KASSEL, 2007 — My sister Fiona and her boyfriend Karl at documenta XII. With documenta XIII opening in a month, on 9 June, I was thinking about the legendary event and found this snap of Fiona & Karl at the last documenta 5 years ago. I Rez’ intrepid bookbinder and fashionista Trilby Minotaur is heading over to d13 in a few weeks and will be sending us reports.

THE HAGUE, 2012 — I was talking to Trilby about the upcoming documenta XIII last night and after we talked I dug out this pix of Fiona and her boyfriend Karl. Gawd. They look SO happy. Like, happier than I think I’ve ever been in my life. I’m very pleased with my life. I’m not unhappy at all. But there’s just this palpable joy in their eyes. It’s amazing.

It’s hard not to be a little bit envious of what I see in her eyes. But actually Fiona’s had her challenges in life. She didn’t come by joy easily and whatever she has found she’s worked hard for. We’ve sort of drifted in and out of each other’s lives. Haven’t always been there for each other. And yet there is a knowing between us. We have the same mother. Gawd. How many all-nite conversations has that been good for? We have the same stupid cackly laugh. We’re both egotistical and selfish. I wish I saw more of her. I’m happy she’s happy. I love her.
