Morning Coffee Challenge

Morning Coffee Challenge
Whether you live in WoW, SL, Eve, Blue Mars, IMVU, or for that matter, even if you’re a “resident” of Poser, Daz, or Animeeple, the simple fact is that we live in worlds where your avatar can be almost anything (your world may vary) and you can spend your days doing almost anything.

You could be the Planet Jupiter and you could spend your days belching forth and detonating methane clouds the size of the earth.

Yet, most of us, most of the time, have bipedal avatars and we do relatively domestic things: we slay young thistle boars, we dance, we have pixel-sex, we decorate the nursery.

Since we do love to “embrace the banal,” let’s go for it! Typist or Avatar, a lot of peeps can’t get very far in their day without the jump-start of a morning cup of coffee.

So, in the world of your choice, snap a photo of yourself having a morning cup of coffee (wearing pajamas, standing at the sink, and gazing out the kitchen window is a nice way to go, but not required) and submit it to the group “Morning Coffee Challenge on flickr:

Be sure to specify the brand of coffee, tea, or whatever you like to drink in the morning. If you like, you can make it a “Post Secret”-ish entry by including some text about your morning coffee experience.

I’ll post some of the most interesting entries here on vaneeesa.com

All Worlds
The “challenge” is definitely open to all avatars in all worlds, but since I happen to live in Second Life, I can offer a few simple tools to help with your photos in SL and other worlds that run off the SL Grid, like OS Grid, InWorldz, Meta 7, etc, etc…

If you’re in any other world and can offer help, please chime in on the comments below and if you have external objects, you can add them to Open Source Vaneeesa on SourceForge.

TOOLS!

You can make your own pose, cup, and saucer, or find them around your grid, etc. Here are a few tools I’ve made for you:

Second Life Grid
For Second Life, I’ve made a quick & dirty cup, saucer & pose and put them up “for sale” on SL Marketplace for L$0. They’re full perm, so you could texture the white cup & saucer any way you like. You’ll find the package here:

SL Grid Based Worlds
For the many worlds (OS Grid, InWorldz, Meta 7, etc) that share the SL Grid Architecture… I’m not aware of a way to move the above content from SL to you. So instead I’m putting the “source code” up on the Open Source Vaneeesa project at SourceForge. For the cup & saucer I provide the numeric data for you to quickly make a copy of them in your SL-Grid-Based world. Also in this kit is the BVH file for the pose / animation which you can upload to your grid and use. (or open in Poser & mod it)

PS: Ha ha ha
While I was uploading your cup, saucer & pose to SourceForge I noticed that Open Source Vaneeesa had 36 downloads. That’s probably not enough for David Fincher to make a movie about Open Source Avatars, but it is, uh, about 36 more downloads than I expected! The original OSV post:
Open Source Vaneeesa

was sort of “concept art” – who knew anybody’d actually download it! 🙂

Anyway, I DO hope peeps download this stuff and snap some kewl morning java pix!

So happy snapping – can’t wait to see what y’all come up with! 🙂

As a virtual public artist my work invites avatar communities to express their identity, explore their culture, and demand their civil rights.
