11 July – Day 5

Today’s picture was taken at Second Life’s replica of the Terracotta Warrior Army, life-size statues of mostly soldiers, but also horses and chariots, over 8000 of which have been unearthed so far in central China after being buried 2200 years ago near the mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang with the intention of protecting him in the afterlife. Here in SL about 200 of these figures in three pits are recreated in 3D.

In Second Life I developed a show with my partner Kikas Babenco, and we participate in performances and improvisations around the grid. Meanwhile, I take a lot of pictures!

  1. Oh wow Marma! In my recent post about the Joss Whedon show “Dollhouse” I talked about Annie Dillard’s ideas on the terra cotta warriors, but I never knew there was a recreation in SL!

This can only lead to 2 possible conclusions:
#1 – There is a recreation of everything in SL
#2 – Vaneeesa need to get (virtually) out more

Jeez, get the wannabe Arianna off her butt and into the virtual world already!

As always Mr. Intrepid Photographer, thanks so much for making my eyes bigger!! 🙂
