30 June – The Gift

I woke up this morning to two wonderful emails. The first one was from Vaneeesa Blaylock inviting me to take part in the ‘Photo a Day’ project. My name is Strawberry Singh and I am a photographer and blogger in the virtual world of Second Life, and I’m quite excited to share my work here. My photography in Second Life is quite therapeutic for me. There have been numerous times where I’ve used it to express how I’m feeling when I’m at a loss for words. I’m quite shy in both worlds, so it’s been a very useful way for me to share myself with the world. I probably won’t be posting a photo every day but will try my best to do one at least once a week. Thank you Vaneeesa! <3

The second wonderful email I received was from the Second Life marketplace saying I received a gift from one of my best friends inworld. I often wake up to these kinds of emails as my best friend is not only there for me when I need someone to talk to and a shoulder to cry on, but he also spoils me often with all sorts of gifts. The message attached to the gift was: “This just looks so much like you. <3” And he’s so right, love this dress! Thank you Mr. Jefferson. <3

      1. Beautiful photo! And Welcome to iRez, Berry!
It’s so exciting to have you join us. Your work is so amazing.

What a sweet story about the dress. And the dress does have a big impact in this image, but I often find that facial expressions are the downfall of many virtual photos and here, well, closing your eyes I think lets us “see” more – somehow it’s an invitation for us to inhabit the moment with you, whereas open eyes are a very different relationship.

The expression on your face is sublime. I don’t quite know how you achieved this image but it’s remarkably subtle for a world that is often rich, but often not so subtle.

And OMG do you have H.O.T. clavicles!

In fact your innovative thinking was the inspiration for one of VB/CO’s most popular performance works, VB26 – Average

And I’ve just learned that your “What’s Your Digits” project that inspired VB26 a year ago, is back in a new WYD – MESH edition now!

Thanks so much for joining us Berry, we’re all honored!

Can’t wait to see more! 🙂

        1. I’m very happy to see you here, Berry. You photography is certainly one of your strengths, but I enjoy your writing very much as well. You have an easygoing style that helps a lot when talking about the many subjects you write about. Hugs & welcomes … Yordie
