Diary #1

NEW YORK CITY, 1985 — For my sixteenth birthday Wendy and I got to go to New York! OMG it was so much crazy fun. I wrote this on the hotel stationary. Honestly, I have no idea what I meant back then, but there it is. I think it was an all-giggling weekend. We barely slept.

THE HAGUE, 2012 — I’ve got this box, or valise, or dossier, or “time capsule” even… not really a “wonder cabinet,” really just a crappy old case… it’s full of scrap book stuff from my life… not arranged all pretty like a Creative Memories book… just detritus of scraps of paper and napkins and ticket stubs and photos and stuff… a generation or so ago I might have tried to do a collage / assemblage sort of thing with all these everything and nothing bits of memories… of moments… but that doesn’t feel right in the century… so maybe I’ll just post them here and see if they somehow make sense as stuff in this space.

As a virtual public artist my work invites avatar communities to express their identity, explore their culture, and demand their civil rights.
