Thanksgiving Video Challenge

Hi Guys, Vaneeesa here. Thursday 24 November is Thanksgiving day in America. It’s the day when colonial powers celebrate conquering indigenous peoples, or something like that.

But more generally it’s a day when families get together and celebrate relationships and eat too much fatty foods. Many of us have our work or career communities, and our online communities, but this is one of those days where you break from those identities and go hang out with friends and people you share DNA with.

I thought it might be interesting to create a “virtual family video” of the myriad people who interact online.

So here’s the challenge:shoot 60 seconds of video on Thursday 24 November, from 6:00pm local time, to 6:01pm.

Then upload it to YouTube and paste the link to your video in the comments on http://vaneeesa.com/thanks

The collection of videos will be a document in themselves, and if you’ll please set the license on your video to Creative Commons Attribution, then any of the participants can grab any of the posted videos and make a mashup collage of our extended virtual family.

WHAT TO SHOOT?
Shoot wherever you are at 6pm.
• Physical world.
• Virtual world.
• On line.
• Off line.

Video of whatever works for you.

Have a great holiday yankees, and a wonderful day to all the citizens of the earth. Eat more tofurky and everybody lives longer!

And never forget: knowledge is power, commit an act of journalism today.

Peace,

out.

As a virtual public artist my work invites avatar communities to express their identity, explore their culture, and demand their civil rights.
