Bitches, Feminism & Pussypower

I`ve often wondered why so many women refer to themself as bitches.
Since when exactly did it become so popular and cool to be a bitch?

I asked Wikipedia for a definition of the word “bitch” and here`s some of the things it came up with:
Wiki: The word “bitch”, literally meaning a female dog.

-Now I start to wonder: what makes women want to define themself as a female dog? Are they doglovers, especially favoring female dogs?
Are they dog fetishists? Do they want to become dogs? What would Freud say about this?
Apperantly Freud had nothing to say about this. I guess “bitches” was just known as female dogs back then…

I ask my friend Wikipedia for more information:
Wiki: Its original use as a vulgarism, suggested high sexual desire in a woman, comparable to a dog in heat.

-So, “bitches” are a bunch of horny women? Is that it?

I had to get more “wikimation”:
Wiki: “Bitch” is a common slang term in the English language, especially used as a denigrating term applied to a woman.
It often refers to someone (traditionally female) who is belligerent, unreasonable, rudely intrusive or aggressive.

-I ask myself: Since when did girls want to be unreasonable, rude and aggressive? Why do women want to denigrate themselves?

I have to find out more about this.

A Second Life general search brings up more than 1000 results for the word “bitch”. There are more than 100 with the name “bitch” and again, more than 1000 “bitchgroups”.
Apparently its associated with a sexy and hot woman.

This makes me think: Unreasonable, rude and aggressive is sexy and hot? This makes no sense? To whom is that hot?
Since I`m not a guy, I can only base this statement on what I`ve experienced and been told: Guys like nice, caring and happy girls.
Am I wrong? Mislead? Confused?

I have to read more:
Wiki: In a feminist context, it can indicate a strong or assertive woman, one who might make men feel threatened.

Feminism: Wiki: “Feminism” refers to movements aimed at establishing and defending equal political, economic, and social rights and equal opportunities for women and men.

-I`m thinking: Oh, bitches are feminists, is that it? Or they want to make men feel threatened? (Which is not feminism)

Funny thing is; when I talk to women (most likely young women) who refer to themselves as bitches, I ask if it is a feminist statement.
Usually I get the reply: Oh no, they are not feminists! No way!
-I`m thinking: So, bitches are not for equal rights? How can they not be? Hmm…
Then, when I ask what bitches talk about in the “bitch community”,
it turns out that they talk about the same stuff that feminists do, they just don’t address it as feminism.

This brings me to Elizabeth Wurtzel, journalist, author and modern feminist.
Her second book Bitch: in praise of difficult women (also critisised as a namedropping banality of a book)
“Bitch is a celebration of the defiant, rock & roll spirit of self-destructive women”
Wurtzel`s bitch-philosophy is: Do what I want, be what I want and be responsible for myself only.

-I`m thinking, okay, that’s almost good. To do what you want and be what you want sounds good. But why be responsible for yourself only? Is that a good quality? I think we all have a responsibility for our fellows, our surroundings and community.
Actually it is our duty (more or less) to be responsible to not only ourselves, but also our community.

– What I conclude from this is that bitches have big egos and just want their own satisfaction and will. Is that it?

– Okey. I just have to insert a quote by John F. Kennedy now:
“And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.”

-Bitches wont do that. They are too busy being big egos. Wurtzel wont do that. She`s too busy being a bitch.
She may be a graduated from Harvard, but would you want her as your friend?

-Wait a minute! I need to think now. – So, bitches are not feminists, (except Elisabeth Wurtzel)
They are intrusive, irresponsible, female dogs, rude, aggressive, horny, have big egos, are narcissistic and spoiled.
This sounds more and more like a personality disorder to me…

I look at Wikipedia to get some information that may reverse this and here`s what I found:
Wiki: A bitch is someone who has gained influence by using their sexuality to manipulate men and event.

Aha! So this is all about the phenomenon “pussypower”.
Wiki: Power as held by women, especially seen as coming from inherently feminine qualities or from female sexual allure.

An article in the Los Angeles Times recently wondered whether the new reality show auditioning scantily clad young women for the Pussycat Dolls girl group was fulfilling the promise of the feminist movement. Based on a visit to “WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution,” the answer would be a resounding, if surprising, “Yes!”

I`m thinking: Are bitches actually representing pussypower?

Like: Okey, we are rude, aggressive, intrusive, have big egos, don’t care about anyone but ourselves, narcissistic, spoiled, bitchy bitches,but hey, we got the pussies!

We have the bitches which are not feminists, the feminists which are bitches (Wurtzel) and pussypower, which can be feminism!

What really is interesting is that the epithet “”bitch”” has no male equivalent. I rest my case…
