[4:02] Zola Zsun: cool, and i wanted to ask about the masked one
[4:02] Vaneeesa Blaylock: (NEKO! in december will be 30 child-neko avatars in a PG sim…
[4:02] Vaneeesa Blaylock: yes
[4:02] Vaneeesa Blaylock: …
[4:02] Zola Zsun: what is the idea behind it
[4:02] Zola Zsun: i am so disturbed by those masks
[4:02] Vaneeesa Blaylock: ha ha ha
[4:02] Zola Zsun: i am a wimp
[4:02] Zola Zsun: hahah
[4:03] Vaneeesa Blaylock: well… we’re at an Ancient Greek sim…
[4:03] Vaneeesa Blaylock: reminescent of Apollo’s temple at Delphi
[4:03] Vaneeesa Blaylock: where the oracle did her reading…
[4:03] Vaneeesa Blaylock: so yes, of course there’s some gender/bondage stuff! π
[4:03] Vaneeesa Blaylock: but more
[4:03] Vaneeesa Blaylock: the idea of seeing/not seeing
[4:04] Vaneeesa Blaylock: really across cultures there is the theme of “dis-ability” in THIS realm…
[4:04] Vaneeesa Blaylock: being a key to Ability in another / alternate realm
[4:04] Zola Zsun: the realm of not seeing…
[4:04] Zola Zsun: interesting
[4:04] Vaneeesa Blaylock: access to secret knowledge
[4:04] Zola Zsun: ok, i get it.. but the outfit is still disturbing lol
[4:05] Vaneeesa Blaylock: it runs all the way from The Oracle at Delphi… to Stephen Hawking — in the latter case, yes, he’s a genius… but I think his high-priest status in our culture also relies heavily on the enigmatic wheel chair…
[4:05] Zola Zsun: yes true
[4:06] Vaneeesa Blaylock: and there are MANY shamanistic characters who “die” to an initial earthly life… and are reborn… enlightened… and with a unique vision in this realm… this theme runs all the way from the “broken man” in the caves of Lascaux, France, 16,000 years ago… to Neo in The Matrix…
[4:07] Vaneeesa Blaylock: with stops in many many cultures… Inuit… South African San… etc…
[4:07] Zola Zsun: yes…
[4:07] Vaneeesa Blaylock: so… sort of a meditation in that space
[4:07] Zola Zsun: yeah.. i can see that
[4:07] Vaneeesa Blaylock: of course… with OUR SL Hoods… YOU can still see! π
[4:07] Zola Zsun: yes
[4:08] Zola Zsun: that is the good part
[4:08] Zola Zsun: i found these disco platforms.. hmmm wondering wht i can do with them.. they are fabulously tacky
[4:08] Vaneeesa Blaylock: ha ha — show me! π
[4:08] Zola Zsun: too funny i knw i can make them into artshoes
[4:09] Vaneeesa Blaylock: actually… the intensity you feel is interesting… IRL, the outfit would be very intense on the wearer…but ISL, it’s probably more intense on the viewer!
[4:09] Zola Zsun: massive bling..
[4:09] Zola Zsun: there is potential here
[4:09] Vaneeesa Blaylock: π
[4:10] Zola Zsun: a start
[4:12] Vaneeesa Blaylock: ouch!! your bling is blinding me!!!
[4:13] Zola Zsun: haha
[4:13] Zola Zsun: i deleted that part lol
[4:13] Zola Zsun: save it for firework display
[4:14] Vaneeesa Blaylock: well… anyway… you can decide whatever works for you on VB07 — but I don’t think it sould be too traumatic! π

[4:14] Vaneeesa Blaylock: and the space we have is INCREDIBLE!
[4:15] Vaneeesa Blaylock: you arrive at one floating Greek temple… and walk on a cloud bridge to the main temple!
[4:15] Zola Zsun: i am sure not
[4:15] Zola Zsun: i was curiouos because of all the connotations of the mask and outfit relating to the sado masochistic … stuff
[4:16] Zola Zsun: which.. well.. not real sure about my feelings on that subject
[4:16] Vaneeesa Blaylock: oic
[4:17] Vaneeesa Blaylock: you mean… if it’s creepy / objectifying / good-bad…
[4:17] Zola Zsun: yeah
[4:18] Zola Zsun: i mean i find it disgusting… but so many people actually get smethign out of it and i do not really understand… and i have been around a long time and seen a lot hahah
[4:19] Vaneeesa Blaylock: Well… I think the dynamics of that world are not really what we’re thinking about in this piece… but I suppose with this wardrobe we do bring it up…
[4:19] Zola Zsun: i mean i want to rebel against exit signs…
[4:19] Zola Zsun: true
[4:22] Vaneeesa Blaylock: it’s not that B&W to me… the “kinky” world is sort of “extreme sex” if you will… but we live in an extreme age… even remix music is “extreme music”… street art is “extreme painting” etc… snowboarding… NOT to say that all that kink is good/healthy/whatever… but, for example, a lot of peeps do get pleasure from having thier butt smacked in an intimate encounter… the same person might file a sexual harassment claim if someone did that at the office — so they are separate realms… but mostly… it’s a visual concept for me in this piece… old artists like DeChirico or contemporary ones like Mark Kostabi have used imagery very remeniscent of this…
[4:24] Zola Zsun: oh yes.. many things found in creative minds….

[4:26] Vaneeesa Blaylock: ha ha
[4:26] Vaneeesa Blaylock: yes
[4:26] Vaneeesa Blaylock: I’ll stop!
[4:26] Zola Zsun: haha
[4:26] Zola Zsun: ok
[4:27] Zola Zsun: i’ll go see what that is… i am supposed to be working in photoshop
[4:27] Zola Zsun: but i am playing with shoes
[4:27] Vaneeesa Blaylock: but anyway… the “mask” is a way we take on a character… the “mask” IS the SL avatar… but what do you have when the mask is blank?
[4:28] Zola Zsun: yes
[4:28] Zola Zsun: we have chat
[4:33] Vaneeesa Blaylock: kk – great – now — do you mind if I post this little chat as a comment on the I Advance Masked previz page?
[4:33] Zola Zsun: not one bit
[4:33] Zola Zsun: go right ahead…lol
[4:33] Zola Zsun: it is informative…quite

[4:34] Zola Zsun: education.. that is what i am learning… so i must consider which theory it follows… NOT
[4:34] Vaneeesa Blaylock: Senban and I have talked a lot about Art/Shock/Insight…
[4:35] Vaneeesa Blaylock: and for me… I’m never intersted in shock for shock’s sake… that’s SO 20th century!!!
[4:35] Vaneeesa Blaylock: BUT
[4:35] Zola Zsun: yes
[4:35] Vaneeesa Blaylock: I really believe that the role of the artist is not to provide answers, but to ask questions
[4:36] Zola Zsun: it is the best thing an artist can do
[4:36] Vaneeesa Blaylock: (sort of different in political art where you often do have a specific message/agenda…
[4:36] Zola Zsun: it makes people think
[4:36] Zola Zsun: that is the goal
[4:36] Vaneeesa Blaylock: YES
[4:36] Zola Zsun: the goal of what i do as well
[4:36] Vaneeesa Blaylock: so… different perspectives… thought… new insights…
[4:36] Zola Zsun: yes
[4:37] Vaneeesa Blaylock: SO… if something makes you uncomfortable… that’s good! Not good because– oh kewl, we shocked/grossed you out
[4:37] Zola Zsun: it is what we want when educating on any level and what i tried to teach my kids.. think…. question… think…learn
[4:37] Vaneeesa Blaylock: but good because THAT is where you have an opportunity to reconsider life/culture/onsciousness
[4:37] Vaneeesa Blaylock: yes
[4:38] Zola Zsun: when we are uncomfortable there is motivation to escape or explain
[4:38] Zola Zsun: causes thought
[4:39] Zola Zsun: now i must make this shoe do something interesting
[4:39] Zola Zsun: footprints of some sort perhaps
