THE MAURITSHUIS MUESUM, 1995 — Museum docent Vaneeesa Anne Blaylock dutifully showing Mauritshuis visitors the permanent collection whilst providing an informative, interpretive commentary.
THE HAGUE, 2012 — I’ve posted a couple of photos recently of performance / photography antics with my former grad school roommate Stacey Giachino, and our collaborator here at iRez, Kathleen Cool has been inspired, in part by these shared memories, to create an exciting new work retrieved from the archives of her mind. A more wonderful spinoff of a salon post almost can’t be imagined, still, beautiful as this synergy is, I fear I may have given the wrong impression. Grad school was not, in fact, one giant orgy of creativity. I’ve already documented my “vote of no confidence” by the dance department faculty, and I thought in fairness today I’d show a less glamorous image from my grad school days.
Yes, it’s true, I put on my little grey suit and gave mind-numbingly dull tours of all the old shit they still hang in that place informed, interpretive commentary on the remarkable, world-class collection on display at the Mauritshuis.

OMG! Are you for real, Van?! You even look glamarous as a docent explaining (maybe singing?!) the praises of a well oiled water fountain to a bunch of old farts 🙂
