If you’re looking for a calm and relaxing place in Second Life, Chris Lorraine Sofee‘s island in the sky is as hard to beat as it’s hard to find. Once inside the house, climb the stairs up to the roof to reach this enchanted meadow. It’s a creation that makes a masterful use of transparencies and black and white with just hints of color, evoking a feeling that one is inside a children’s book.

I love this! I’m always an enthusiast for surreal worlds, so to say.
Recently, I’ve been playing a game called Botanicula ( http://ravalation.blogspot.nl/2012/07/back-from-mud-living-on-tree.html ). In this game without any spoken/written instructions, you explore the world of a tree full of fantasy creatures. They’re all based on pictures or drawings of real animals or things and make familiar sounds. You can’t recognize them as real animals you know, though. Walking around feels funny, and – just like you said – as being inside a children’s book (a fairy tale).
Okay, perhaps a little weirder than the drawn garden above, but in my mind it somehow feels related.
It must a pretty strange feeling if you come from the relatively realistic looking SL world, climb up some stairs and end up in this.
