Ascension

Dear VB Friends,

I’m so glad I got to meet many of you on Saturday, and I look forward to meeting more of you in the coming days.

For those of you I didn’t meet, my name is Aero Bigboots and I am the Executor for the Estate of Vaneeesa Blaylock in the spiritual dimension commonly referred to as “Second Life.”

Aero Bigboots

I’ve known Vaneeesa for over a year now. She’s been very kind and supportive during my own, kind of less dramatic, life challenges. IRL I work as a nurse in Vancouver. It’s true that I’m a continent-and-a-half away from where she lived in The Hague, but interestingly “Vancouver” actually comes from Dutch, “van Coevorden” meaning someone from Coevorden, which is a city in the Netherlands, about 220km northeast of The Hague. Maybe there’s some kind of resonance between us. I’m happy to help however I can.

If you weren’t able to be there on Saturday, you might be relieved to know that Vaneeesa decided not to commit avatar suicide. Whether this was a decision she would have reached on her own, or whether the pleas of friends like Pixel, Mac, Heathers and others touched her and altered her course, I honestly don’t know.

I do know that she was contacted by both Laurel Leavitt and Krissy Sinclair that morning. Laurel and Krissy both expressed a lot of sympathy and concern for Vaneeesa’s condition, but they both further suggested how harmful this could be to other residents, even uninvolved residents. In fact Krissy runs a home filled with hundreds of candles and notecards from Survivors of Suicide. Vaneeesa and Agnes spent over an hour with Krissy on Saturday morning and when they returned to Biscuit Bay, Vaneeesa stood by the suitcase she’d already planted in the sand on the beach, said that she wouldn’t be committing Avatar Suicide, apologized to survivors she may have caused any further harm to, and with that, she transformed into an autumn gust of leaves, hovered over the beach for another hour or more, and then Ascended until we could no longer see her.

Ze, Agnes, myself, macar00n, pixel and Pixeleen standing around Vaneeesa's suitcase on the beach. Above it are some roses in chains that Zariss gave her, and floating above that is Ascendant Vaneeesa.
Vaneeesa transformed to an autum blush of leaves, Ascending off the beach till we couldn't see her anymore.

There are a lot of ways you can still keep in touch with Vaneeesa and I’ll be happy to facilitate anything I can.

Currently, she has Ascended to the following spiritual planes:
OS Grid
Reaction Grid
InWorldz
Meta7
3rd Rock Grid
Blue Mars

You’re welcome to friend “Vaneeesa Blaylock” in any of these realms.

Also, she’s on the WoW / Argent Dawn EU Server as “VeeBee”

You can also ask me anything in plain, old Second Life, and I’ll try to keep the VB Friends group and the blog going with info about Performances, Flashmobs, and Field Trips, on whatever worlds, spiritual dimensions, or navels they may be occurring on.

I guess Ascension in the Age of ISP’s takes longer than it did in Biblical Times, but once she’s set up I’m sure she’ll be blogging away as usual on a range of Virtual World Performance Art Topics. Until then, she’s given me a list of people in Second Life that she wants me to blog about.

Yes, it’s true, personality blogging is not a normal Executor function, but look who we’re dealing with. She said the beauty and power of these peeps work made her embarrassed to complain about the behavior of Linden Lab and the Burning Man Organization. But she said she had to try to work elsewhere, but still wanted to write about these wonderful artists.

I’ll do the best I can, but remember, I’m a nurse, not an artist, I don’t have Vaneeesa’s florid prose, and I certainly don’t have her encyclopedic knowledge of art history. Still, I think I can at least talk a little bit about the work of these people she admired.

Vaneeesa’s in the process of setting up a region in InWorldz.

It should be just east of Trilby Minotaur’s Combray region:

and it should be online by tomorrow. Please visit anytime, and I think there will be a performance there very soon.

After all that anticipation and tension, we felt a great relief. And then there was a gigantic food fight. Cheese and plates and all kinds of things were thrown all over the beach. It was a really fun mess. It was a great tension release. Oh, and then there was a little bit of a Philip love fest.

Here’s a list of people in attendance at Vaneeesa’s Ascension on Saturday. Help me guys, I suck at writing names down! Please comment or message me with the names I missed – sowii!

She's incorporeal now!
I grew up in Friday Harbor, WA, and went to school at UBC Vancouver where I received a BSN in 2003. Now I'm a nurse at Children & Women's Health Center of BC. I wish I could tell you I went clubbing every night after work, but those days are pretty much behind me. My boyfriend is a bit of a gamer, but I'm not fond of battles & killing stuff, so I rarely join him. Sometimes I play Second Life instead: it's fun to unleash my inner cheerleader! :)
